May Essentials Edit

As we spring into summer and the evenings get lighter, I wanted to share my May essentials edit – a selection of my favourite products I’ve discovered throughout the month of April, which will be accompanying me into May and beyond. So without further ado…

1. CELIA Organic Lager, RRP £2.50 from Ocado, Waitrose, Oddbins, Booths and Whole Foods Market.

Now as much as I love a nice cold beer, I do sometimes feel bloated after a few rounds. So I was happy to discover a solution to this problem in the form of CELIA Organic Lager.

CELIA is a 100% Czech organic lager, brewed with Saaz Hops and crafted using a natural carbonation process to create a non-bloating refreshing lager with a delicate bitterness. Which also has the added benefit of being wheat and gluten-free.

2. Clearspring Organic Instant Powder Porridge, RRP £3.49 from

I’m not sure about you, but for me, it’s almost become a daily ritual to pick up a pastry with my morning coffee – not a good habit to get into.

Therefore I’ve started eating  Clearspring Gluten-Free Power Porridge for breakfast each morning. It’s made with nutty buckwheat flakes, wholegrain white quinoa and chia seeds. I’ve also been experimenting with different toppings such as cinnamon, apple and blueberry, as well as mixing with soya and almond milk – bye, bye almond croissant.

3. JANJIRA Marine Radiant White Brightening Booster Serum, RRP £36

Throughout the winter I’ve been suffering from dry skin, due to having the central heating on overnight. So I’ve been looking for a product to sit under my daily moisturiser to fix this.

JANJIRA provided exactly that in the form of its new Marine range. The Brightening Boost Serum contains Vitamin C, Vitamin B3 and Sorghum Bicolor Stalk Juice. Which left my skin feeling like it had an extra shield on to combat my dryness and keep me hydrated throughout the day.

4. HUNTER Lab Cleansing Facial Scrub, RRP £17 from

Basically, I think Australian grooming products are great! from Aesop to Uppercut Deluxe, they do men’s grooming products very well.

I use facial scrub around once a week to resurface my skin and avoid any annoying ingrowing hairs. I wanted to check out a different product to what I was used to, so I put HUNTER Lab Cleansing Facial Scrub to the test.

HUNTER Lab Cleansing Facial Scrub is a natural 2 in 1 foaming facial cleansing exfoliant formulated with macrobiotic sea minerals, seaweed, passion fruit extracts and natural eco scrub. The end result left my skin feeling fresh, clean and breathable.

HUNTER Lab also sells Daily Face Fuel moisturiser crafted with avocado, macadamia and passion fruit seed oils (£21), which works in perfect synergy with the scrub to rehydrate skin post-scrub. The range comes in aesthetically pleasing matt black and dark wood packaging – a real bathroom focal point.

5. Finlay & Co. Percy Ebony Sunglasses, RRP £170 from

I always like to invest in a good pair of sunglasses before Summer. So I can get the most out of them, from when the sun starts creeping through to the end of the summer days.

Finlay & Co. are renowned for their hand-crafted frames and iconic design when it comes to producing styles of sunglasses. So after an agonising ten minutes deliberating over which coloured mirrored shade to go for (blue, pink or silver), I eventually settled on a silver mirror pair of Percy Ebony.

That’s right, ebony as in the wood. The Percy’s are hand-crafted from lightweight ebony wood to compliment the sleek and rounded frame.

It’s always hard to tell when ordering off the internet what an item is going to look like on you. But when they arrived I discovered they were a perfect fit and comfortable around the ears – they also make any outfit instantly stylish.

6. MOBS London iPad Sleeve, RRP £20 from MOBS London online

Every time I go travelling my iPad comes with me, as I find it super useful when connected to hotel WIFI to look up local points of interest. I wanted an iPad sleeve that stepped away from classic black and gave me the ability to access my iPad with ease in any given moment.

MOBS London, a new lifestyle brand aimed at young men, provided the answer in the form of its iPad sleeve. What’s more, each iPad sleeve is completely unique to the customer, as they are hand-crafted from upcycled truck tarpaulin.

7. Stiffies Magnetic Collar Stiffeners, RRP £17.99 from

Genius! – I wear a lot of sweaters over shirts and my collars always seem to fall flat underneath. Stiffies offer the solution in the form of clever magnetic collar stiffeners, designed to ensure the structure and stiffness of your shirt collar is always on-point. I can confirm I’ve had no floppy collars since road-testing these!

Stiffies are available in silver and gold, with two different sizes in each set and magnets to keep the stiffeners in position.

That’s it for my May essentials edit!
